Everglades, Florida's mysterious and beautiful subtropical wilderness
is one of the natural wonders of the world. During a thirty-minute
airboat tour, the naturalist will take you on a exhilarating ride
through the "river of grass." These boats skim over the
shallow waters and grassy vegetation. As the airboat stops periodically,
the Naturalist will point out birds, plant life and possibly an alligator! |

Flamingo
Gardens is truly a living museum. The outstanding collection of tropical
and sub-tropical plants and birds native to South Florida is presented
in their natural habitats. Visitors can embark on a 30-minute narrated
and entertaining tram ride through a canopy of South Florida jungle
and citrus groves. In addition to the lush tropical gardens is the
Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary and "Free-Flight" Aviary,
which exhibit five eco-systems indigenous to South Florida. True to
its name, Flamingo Gardens offers visitors a chance to meet a flock
of majestic pink flamingos nestled amidst tropical vegetation and
sparkling waterfalls. |

The
beautiful Museum of Art, South Florida's shining star, is a grand
treasure house for art lovers of all ages. Throughout the year, spacious,
light filled galleries come to life with exciting exhibits. The Sculpture
Terrace, hosts a sampling of the permanent collection of 19th and
20th century European and American art, highlighted by Picasso, Calder,
Dali, Warhol, Moore and Stella. Also delighting visitors will be the
largest collection of CoBrA (Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam) art
in the Western Hemisphere; an outstanding collection of regional art;
and one of the largest collections of African, South Pacific, Pre-Colombian,
American Indian as well as contemporary Cuban art in the State of
Florida. The most recent acquisition may well be the most significant,
the William Glakens collection, donated to the museum through a bequest
of his son. It is valued at 40 million dollars. |

Museum of Discovery and Science

Museum of Discovery and Science is in the heart of Fort Lauderdale's
Arts and Science District, across from Esplanade Park and the Performing
Arts Center. Spanning a full city block, over 200 hands-on exhibits
offer exploration of diverse science topics including animals, ecology,
technology, space, health, sound, physical sciences and Florida Ecoscapes.
Also, the museum houses a Blockbuster IMAX 3D Theater featuring a
five-story high screen and a 42-speaker digital sound system. |
