Having picked the then small town of Miami, the construction began in 1914 and as many as 1,000 artisans worked on it during the following years to create a masterpiece. The ancient country homes of the Italian Veneto appealed to him most, so his new winter home was fashioned accordingly. It was completed in 1916.
