Originally constructed in 1939 for the epic motion picture Arizona, Old Tucson Studios is affectionately known around the world as "Hollywood in the Desert." More than 300 motion picture and television productions have been filmed at this historic movie location. Hollywood notables as John Wayne, Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Elizabeth Taylor and Kurt Russell have all filmed at Old Tucson Studios. Built to an exact replica of Tucson in the 1860's, this old west town has it all! From shows and rides, to plenty of delicious viddles, Old Tucson Studios offers up authentic old west entertainment in the traditional style that has brought so many film makers, history buffs and film enthusiasts to their dusty streets.
Biosphere II

Biosphere 2 is one of the largest living laboratories in the world. It is an air tight greenhouse covering 3.15 acres and 7.2 million cubic feet of volume. Within Biosphere 2 are several different biomes which researchers use to experiment on Earth systems on a relatively large scale. Inside Biosphere 2 is a rainforest, a million gallon salt water ocean, a coastal fog desert, and four other wilderness ecosystems. In 1994 Biosphere 2 was converted from an experiment to test the feasibility of humans living in a closed eco-system to a large-scale ecological laboratory and Western branch campus of Columbia University.
Kartchner Caverns

The Kartchner caverns were discovered in November 1974 in the Whetstone Mountains in southern Arizona. The caverns were surveyed and studied until 1992, at which time park development started. The 550-acre State Park has a variety of uses, including five miles of trails for hiking, a handicapped accessible loop trail, picnic facilities, trailhead access to National Forest trails, on-site interpretive programs, and a Discovery Center with exhibits and a gift shop. Development at Kartchner Caverns State Park has utilized some of the most cutting-edge cave development technology.
